Objectives

REV8 was born from the desire to offer young Europeans the opportunity to cycle a section of the EuroVelo 8 route. Specifically, the section from Cádiz to Algeciras. We will address specific needs: reconnecting young people with nature and physical activity, promoting a sustainable tourism model and the EuroVelo network, and fostering gender equality in sport. Participants will experience an activity-packed program that includes cycling routes, non-formal education workshops, and awareness-raising activities with local community organizations. The project objectives are: - To bring together 25 young people from diverse backgrounds to promote cultural diversity, giving them the opportunity to learn about other cultures while living and working in mixed-nationality groups. - To strengthen personal skills such as self-confidence and resilience, and to encourage outdoor sports by challenging participants to cycle 200 kilometers. - To raise awareness about the gender gap by forming a gender-balanced group and organizing activities that highlight the role of women in cycling. - To explore models of responsible tourism, promoting cycling as an environmentally friendly mode of transport and an alternative to conventional tourism. - To promote the Erasmus+ program, the EuroVelo network, and European values among participants and the general public, engaging local organizations in the communities we visit. We will achieve these objectives through activities in three phases: - Preparation: Participants will complete preparatory tasks related to the project theme before the exchange. We will include an online meeting to allow participants to get to know each other beforehand. - Youth exchange: Young people will actively participate in workshops on safe cycling practices, developing key skills, meet with local organizations in the towns we visit, and cycle a section of the EuroVelo 8 route over 5 days. - Follow-up: Participants will return to their countries and organize local activities to share their experiences and the project results with other young people in their communities. REV8 aligns with European priorities by promoting inclusion and diversity, fostering environmental sustainability, and strengthening European citizenship through its connection to the EuroVelo cycling network infrastructure. This initiative also directly connects with the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 by addressing European Youth Goals related to the health and well-being of young people, gender equality, the environment, and connecting rural and urban communities.
