Objectives

The AI Compass training program aims to empower youth workers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to integrate AI into their work effectively. AI is transforming education, employment, civic engagement, and social innovation, but many youth organizations lack the technical expertise, strategic frameworks, and ethical guidance to navigate these changes. Our goal is to bridge this gap, ensuring that youth workers are equipped to support young people in an AI-driven world. Through this project, we aim to: -Make AI accessible and practical for youth workers, breaking down its complexity and focusing on real-world applications. -Promote ethical AI use, helping youth workers understand issues like bias, misinformation, and inclusion. -Encourage AI-driven youth work initiatives, providing participants with the tools and support to create and implement AI-powered projects. -Foster collaboration and networking, building a strong community of youth workers who can share best practices and co-create solutions. -Ensure long-term impact, supporting participants beyond the training to implement AI in their organizations and reach a broader audience. This project is about empowering youth workers as changemakers, giving them the resources and skills to navigate AI responsibly and inclusively while making a real impact on young communities. Objectives of the project From a youth work practice perspective, AI Compass is designed to be hands-on, participatory, and impact-driven. Our specific objectives include: 1-Train 30 European youth workers in AI concepts, ethics, and applications in youth work through a structured non-formal learning program that balances theory with practical exercises. 2-Facilitate the development of at least 15 AI-powered youth work initiatives, using collaborative design thinking and real-world case studies to inspire creative AI applications. 3-Create and share an "AI Toolkit for Youth Workers", providing practical resources, ethical guidelines, and examples of AI use in youth work that will be freely accessible online. 4-Ensure real-world impact by supporting participants in implementing AI-driven projects within six months of training, aiming for at least 70% of participants to organize an AI-related initiative, reaching a minimum of 1,000 young people. 5-Build a strong professional network, with at least 50% of participants establishing long-term connections to collaborate on future projects and continue sharing AI-related best practices. Through interactive, experiential learning, youth workers will gain the confidence to integrate AI into their daily work. The program is designed to not only provide knowledge but also enable action, ensuring that participants leave with concrete strategies to implement AI ethically and effectively. By strengthening youth workers' digital literacy, problem-solving skills, and strategic thinking, this project will contribute to better youth engagement, participation, and employability. The AI Compass community will continue beyond the training, fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion, and responsible technology use. Through this initiative, we are ensuring that AI becomes a tool for empowerment rather than exclusion, supporting youth workers in creating AI-driven opportunities that benefit young people across Europe. AI Compass integrates the EU’s shared values into each objective of the TC. Making AI accessible and practical for youth workers advances equality, non-discrimination and inclusion, so young people, including minorities and those with fewer opportunities, benefit on equal terms through gender-responsive and intersectional approaches. Our focus on ethical, rights-based AI upholds human dignity, privacy and the rule of law by using GDPR-aware, safety-by-design practices and transparent safeguards. Co-creating AI initiatives with young people strengthens freedom of expression, participation and democratic culture, while bias checks and critical media literacy protect human rights online and offline. Building cross-border collaboration among organisations nurtures solidarity, respect for diversity and social cohesion, and our open resources and follow-up support promote fairness and accountability. In short, every goal, skills, tools, projects, networking and impact, is designed to translate the EU’s values into everyday youth work practice.
