What Do We Aim to Achieve by Implementing Our Project? Our Project Goals in Terms of Youth Work Practice Youth workers are not only individuals who guide youth work; they are also carriers of social transformation, providing emotional support by interacting directly with young people and accompanying their developmental processes. However, this intense relationship increases the emotional and mental burden on youth workers, exposing them to risks such as burnout, stress, and loss of motivation. Based on this fundamental problem, our project aims to offer innovative methods that strengthen youth workers' internal resources, prioritize mental health, and enhance their professional competencies. Our Goals 1. Increasing the Mental Resilience and Emotional Resilience of Youth Workers One of the primary goals of our project is to develop the mental resilience, self-awareness, and stress management skills necessary for youth workers to maintain their mental well-being. In this context, youth workers will be introduced to mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques, emotion regulation strategies, and psychological first aid approaches. This way, they will not only feel more balanced and healthy on an individual level, but will also be able to intervene more effectively and compassionately in times of crisis. 2. Integrating Mindfulness Practices into Youth Work Mindfulness is currently used as an effective tool for supporting mental health and fostering trust and empathy in interpersonal relationships. The project will focus on how to integrate mindfulness-based techniques into youth work practice, providing youth workers with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience regarding the applicability of these techniques to different age groups and contexts. This will enable youth workers to utilize these skills in workshops and individual meetings with young people. 3. Developing Mindfulness and Connection Skills with Nature-Based Learning Approaches It has been scientifically proven that contact with nature increases an individual's psychological resilience and supports mental well-being. However, the systematic and conscious application of these methods in youth work is not yet widespread. Our project will introduce nature-based learning practices to youth workers and provide them with experience in planning and implementing healing-focused and awareness-raising activities that can be carried out in nature. This will enable youth workers to undertake innovative initiatives that encourage young people to connect with nature and strengthen intragroup relationships. 4. Developing the Emotional Well-Being of Youth Workers Youth work is not simply a process based on imparting knowledge; it is a multilayered, relational experience that requires emotional labor and empathy. Therefore, it is crucial to strengthen youth workers' emotional well-being, such as the ability to regulate their emotions, establish a body-mind connection, and cultivate self-compassion. Through methods such as body awareness, breathing techniques, and compassion-focused meditations, the project will help participants connect with their inner processes and provide guidance on how to apply these skills to their professional fields. 5. Creating a Healthy and Inclusive Youth Work Network Across Europe The project will bring together youth workers from six different European countries, creating a rich environment for intercultural learning and experience sharing. In this environment, youth workers will share good practices implemented in their own contexts and learn about innovative approaches used in other countries. This will contribute to the establishment of a healthy, informed, and inclusive youth work network across Europe. This network will pave the way for ongoing collaborations, joint trainings, and the dissemination of practical examples after the project. 6. Ensuring Impact by Developing Concrete Training Materials and Practice Sets Our project aims not only for personal development but also for the sustainability of the learning. Therefore, at the end of the project, concrete outcomes such as a nature-based practice set, examples of a mindfulness journal, and a self-care guide for youth workers will be developed and shared as open resources. These materials can be directly used by youth workers in their own countries and will serve as inspiration for various institutions.
