Objectives

The “Sing Your Story” project was born from the previous experience with Songs for Healing, where we witnessed the enormous potential of music as a tool for youth work, both at a personal and community level. With this new edition, we aim to continue, expand, and improve the dynamics implemented, offering youth workers an international space to reflect, express themselves, and transform their experiences into collective creative processes. Music has historically held the power to change society: it has given voice to the excluded, accompanied protests, and inspired collective action. During movements such as the U.S. Civil Rights Movement, it was a unifying force and a catalyst for change. In contexts of marginalization or conflict, musical programs have reduced aggression and stress, fostering cooperation and mutual understanding. In this project, music will serve as the medium to work on conflict transformation and the development of social and personal competences, transcending linguistic and cultural barriers, and generating belonging, community identity, and respect for diversity. From the perspective of youth work practice, the main objectives of the project are: -Create a community and intercultural space where young people and youth workers can reflect on themselves, express emotions, conflicts, and needs, and transform them into collective songs that strengthen empathy, creativity, and a sense of belonging. -Promote creative writing and musical composition as methodologies applicable in the youth field, useful for self-knowledge, communication, and social transformation. -Develop social, artistic, and facilitation skills that participants can integrate into their work with young people (active listening, empathy, teamwork, group management, applied creativity). -Promote intercultural cooperation through joint work among 20 participants from 9 countries, enhancing cultural diversity, mutual learning, and the strengthening of international youth networks. -Generate safe and non-judgmental environments, fostering trust, authenticity, and emotional well-being, which are essential aspects of current youth work. -Provide participants with replicable methodologies, enabling them to multiply the impact in their local communities through workshops, concerts, or similar artistic activities. Our aim is to empower youth workers to incorporate artistic and participatory tools into their practice, thus contributing to higher-quality, innovative youth work that is centered on young people’s well-being and inclusion.
