On a global, national and local level, we are facing an enormous environmental challenge — one that the older generation has not been able to solve and is, in the long run, passing on to today’s youth to handle. We - as youth organisations - therefore have a great responsibility to equip young people as best as possible to take on this task, including promoting intercultural understanding, cooperation, and active citizenship among youth. With this project, we aim to inspire our participants — based on shared European values — to find the courage to use their voices, to learn more about what it means to be environmental citizens, and to use this knowledge and experience to grow personally. More specifically, we want to explore the concept of “environmental citizenship”: • How does one become an environmental citizen? • How can we positively influence others to take better care of our climate? • How can we contribute to and learn from one another? • Can we reduce climate anxiety by strengthening young people’s ability to act and take part in climate action? The objectives of the project are: - To ensure a high level of youth participation throughout the entire project - To learn about environmental citizenship and find ways to inspire and influence others as well - To engage, strengthen and inspire our participants to use their voices and democratic skills in the environmental debate - To provide young people with fewer opportunities a unique chance to grow personally and build self-confidence through the special support measures of the Erasmus+ programme — and at the same time fight stigma and promote an inclusive approach within the youth exchange group
