Europe is facing growing challenges related to minorities, migration and social tensions. Youth workers are often at the frontline of these processes, yet many lack practical tools to support young people in navigating conflict, stress and intercultural misunderstandings. People are in a constant search for hidden knowledge and new methods on conflict resolution. Pilgrim routes are becoming more and more popular among people who are looking for peace, retreat centres are fully booked, psychological sessions have become a new normality. These facts prove the need for mental stability and peace in both inside and outside worlds. The “Empowered for Peace” project was designed as an educational answer to the above mentioned challenges. Designed as a Training Course hosted in Helsinki greater area, Finland, it will bring together 32 youth workers and trainers from six Programme and Partner countries. Through workshops, study visits and experiential learning, the project will combine mindfulness, peacebuilding and non-formal education to support both personal transformation and professional development. The main objective of this project is to deliver a deep impactful course where mindfulness, peace building and education are merging. We aim to demonstrate a smooth path “from personal transformation to the peaceful community”. People say: “If you want to change the country, start with yourself”. In order to start being active at the places, to initiate actions, learning activities, peace building events, etc, youth workers have to feel at peace with themselves and have energy for those actions. This approach helped us to shape the structure of the “Empowered for Peace” training. The overall objectives of this project are next: - to give a training on conflict resolution to the European change makers; - to provide youth workers with practical knowledge on how mindfulness instruments can be used to regulate emotions, reduce stress and support mental health, both for themselves and in their work with young people; - to improve the emotional well-being and inner balance of youth workers through immersive experiences with music, movement, mindfulness and healing practices; foster activism awareness by helping participants reconnect with the inner peace and reflect this peace to the outer world; - to empower participants to creatively express the link between mental health and peace building activism through the co-creation, cooperation, education activities; to equip youth workers with new non-formal education methods and tools for enhancing the quality and impact of their daily youth work; - to practice English language, since all the activities will be conducted in this language; - to support the youth workers in establishing new partnerships and networking; - to boost participants’ creativity and capacity to implement new ideas in their communities; - to support international cooperation between 6 different countries; - to contribute to the Erasmus+ Programme and European non-formal education and civic society.
