Objectives

The project idea aims to address the pressing needs of youth workers and the young people they serve in the face of a growing youth mental health crisis. The project responds to various challenges, including the significant increase in anxiety, stress, and isolation among young people, the limitations of traditional, talk-based youth work methods, the lack of practical, creative tools for youth workers to facilitate emotional expression, and the high risk of professional burnout among practitioners dealing with emotionally demanding situations. The project objectives include equipping youth workers with a new toolkit of art-based, non-verbal methods, developing their skills in creating psychologically safe spaces using a trauma-informed approach, enhancing their competence in facilitating sensitive emotional processes, promoting self-care and resilience as professional practices to prevent burnout, enabling youth workers to take on more active roles in supporting the well-being of the most vulnerable youth, providing equal opportunities for expression for young people who face communication barriers, and supporting those facing difficulties in participating in society due to anxiety or social exclusion. In summary, the project aims to equip youth workers with the knowledge, skills, and creative tools necessary to effectively support youth mental health in a changing world, while also addressing the critical concerns of youth worker sustainability and social inclusion.
