Objectives

Youth workshop activities in Finland are currently facing many challenges. Funding has weakened, not enough clients are being directed to workshops, and workshop activities are already in danger of ending or at least significantly decreasing in several locations. At the same time, mental distress among youth is increasing. Youth unemployment is growing and the current services of workshops no longer seem to be sufficient. We need new ways of doing our work with young people, new, fresh ideas. New ways are also needed for young people to get employed. The goal of the project is to strengthen the competence of youth workers in the areas of international and multicultural work, inclusion and social empowerment. The project will be implemented as a study visit to Germany, where youth workers will meet together with a German host organization to learn and develop their competence. The project, which will be implemented in Germany, offers participants the opportunity to learn in an international context, share good practices and develop new methods to promote the well-being of young people. We will gain better skills to guide young people abroad, see new volunteer opportunities, network and get new opportunities for international cooperation and get ideas for new developments. The aim is also to offer youth workers working in workshops new ideas for their work with young people and strengthen their professional skills and cultural competence. The project will also promote the development of methods that support young people's inclusion and give youthworkers the courage to engage in international cooperation, the ability to guide young people abroad and receive young people from abroad. At the same time, we encourage the use of English at work and promote intercultural learning and understanding. We want to strengthen international cooperation between parties working with young people and create connections between German networks and Finnish workshop leaders. The aim is also to disseminate the project's results nationwide in a workshop network and to encourage and inspire others to do international work.
