Objectives

By implementing this project, we want to empower young youth workers from 8 different countries to gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to create safe and inclusive spaces in educational and youth programmes. Our main objectives are: Capacity development: To train participants on how to prepare a programme and organise team building in ways that immediately create a safe learning and cooperation environment. Rules and activity design: To equip them with the ability to set group rules and design activities that ensure a safe space, taking into account different needs, learning styles and paces of participants. Reflection and evaluation: To show how reflection after each activity and at the end of each day can be used to strengthen the feeling of safety and ensure that all voices are heard. Outdoor activities: To train them on how to organise and manage outdoor activities while maintaining a safe space in environments with extra challenges (weather, safety, biological needs, accessibility). Empathy and inclusion: To help them develop the competence to adapt their personal style so that every young person — including those with fewer opportunities or disabilities — feels safe, respected and included. Quality and innovation: To improve the quality of youth work by embedding the safe space approach in all phases of a programme, from preparation to final evaluation. Networking and cooperation: To build an international community of youth workers who share the same values of creating safe spaces and continue to exchange practices in future collaborations. From the perspective of youth work practice, the project will provide: Concrete methods and tools for integrating safe space principles into daily youth work, An enhanced understanding of the youth worker’s role as the creator and guarantor of safe and inclusive environments, Stronger organisations able to deliver higher quality and more inclusive activities that foster real safe spaces. In short, the project aims to turn participants into agents of change who ensure the existence of safe spaces in every educational and youth activity they organise in the future.
