With YouthPlay Europe, our aim is to use sport and non-formal education as tools to empower young people, strengthen youth work practice, and build inclusive communities. The project does not only create learning opportunities for the 35 direct participants, but also helps youth workers and organisations develop innovative practices that can be applied long after the project ends. O1: Empower young people with fewer opportunities to participate actively in society through sport and non-formal learning. From a youth work perspective, this objective ensures that disadvantaged young people are not only included in activities but are given responsibility and leadership roles. By participating in workshops, leading parts of the Intercultural Sports Festival, and co-organising multiplier events, young people learn to take initiative, strengthen their confidence, and develop resilience. O2: Develop and test new sport-based non-formal education methods that promote inclusion, tolerance, and respect. Youth workers and participants will co-create methods during the exchange, such as basketball for diversity games, civic debates linked to sport, digital storytelling on inclusion, and fair play tournaments. These methods will be documented in the Inclusive Sport Toolkit, ensuring that youth workers have a practical resource they can apply in future projects and daily youth work. O3: Strengthen the intercultural competences and teamwork skills of young people and youth workers. Through mixed-country responsibility groups (Media, Reflection, Logistics, Activities, Energiser), participants will practice cooperation, problem-solving, and peer learning. Youth workers will support them but also learn new facilitation approaches by observing how intercultural groups work together. This contributes to youth work practice by modelling inclusive, youth-led teamwork. O4: Build the capacity of partner organisations to integrate sport as a tool in their youth work practice. Each organisation will take responsibility for workshops linked to their expertise (basketball, football, debates, digital storytelling), gaining experience in designing and delivering sport-based non-formal education. The project will also strengthen organisational cooperation, as partners exchange methods and learn from each other’s strengths. This ensures that after the project, youth workers are better equipped to design innovative programmes for their communities. O5: Promote active youth participation and peer-to-peer education as central principles of youth work. The project places young people at the heart of planning, implementation, and dissemination. From preparing their video introductions, to leading stations at the Sports Festival, to presenting the Toolkit during multiplier events, participants are not passive receivers but active multipliers. For youth work practice, this objective reinforces the idea that young people learn best when they are responsible, trusted, and empowered to educate others. O6: Encourage youth organisations to adopt more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. Sport activities and non-formal methods will be delivered with a strong emphasis on sustainability: avoiding single-use plastics, promoting active transport, offering vegetarian meals, and raising awareness of environmental responsibility. Youth workers will integrate these practices into their ongoing work, improving the sustainability of youth activities in the long term. Expected Impact on Youth Work Practice By achieving these objectives, YouthPlay Europe will strengthen the quality of youth work by: -Providing youth workers with at least 5 new tested sport-based methods. -Creating a 25-page Toolkit as a practical resource for future activities. -Building youth workers’ competences in intercultural facilitation and inclusion. -Promoting youth participation models where young people act as multipliers and leaders. -Embedding sustainability as a core part of youth activities.
