Objectives

Implementing the CrossCulture. Connecting Youth over Borders project, aims to achieve several interrelated objectives, all centered on the practical work with young people and their active development. From the perspective of youth work, the project seeks to create an inclusive, participatory, and supportive environment where young people can explore, reflect, and develop competencies that are often not addressed in formal education. The main objectives of the project are: - Promote intercultural learning and dialogue: through structured youth work methods such as non-formal and informal activities, LARP, Playback Theatre, World Café sessions, and intercultural workshops, the project enables young people from different cultural and social backgrounds to meet, interact, and understand each other. This fosters mutual respect, empathy, and awareness of diversity as a strength. - Support identity and belonging: many participants, particularly young Ukrainian refugees, face challenges related to displacement and integration. The project provides tools and safe spaces for self-expression, reflection, and sharing experiences, helping participants strengthen their sense of personal and cultural identity, both in their host countries and with regard to their homeland. - Develop key life skills and personal growth: by engaging in collaborative, creative, and experiential learning methods, participants enhance critical thinking, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence. Youth work practices ensure these skills are learned in an active, participatory way that builds confidence, resilience, and autonomy. - Encourage civic engagement and social responsibility: activities are designed to raise awareness of social issues, forced migration, human rights, and inclusion. Young people are empowered to reflect on their role in society, act as active citizens, and apply the lessons learned within their local and international communities. - Foster peer-to-peer learning and network building: by participating in transnational activities, youth strengthen their peer networks, exchange good practices, and create sustainable connections with other young people and youth organizations. This supports collaborative learning, intercultural cooperation, and long-term engagement in youth initiatives. - Increase awareness of European opportunities and tools for youth empowerment: through YouthPass, Erasmus+ programs, and exposure to EU perspectives on peacebuilding and social cohesion, participants gain knowledge and motivation to engage in future projects, broadening their horizons and increasing their practical opportunities for personal and professional development. In practical youth work terms, the project is designed to: 1.Implement non-formal methods that actively engage participants, making learning participatory, immersive, and meaningful; 2.Provide a safe and inclusive environment for young people to express themselves freely and explore sensitive issues; 3.Develop activities that are experiential and reflective, ensuring that the learning is applied not only during the exchange but also in the participants’ communities; 4.Facilitate direct support and inclusion for young people with fewer opportunities, particularly refugees, through tailored guidance, mentorship, and group work. CrossCulture aims to empower young people, strengthen intercultural understanding, promote inclusion, and build competencies for active citizenship, combining practical youth work methods with structured reflection and community engagement to create a transformative experience for participants.
