By implementing this “sport and culture connection 2” project, we hope to establish an intercultural connection with our partner through sport. This is a French-speaking project between a French partner, the association A LA MARJE located in Fort-de-France, Martinique, on the administrative and financial side, but also on the operational side. As an active COMOB organization, we will support the MANIBA Social Center in the operational management with these young people and a Belgian partner, MAISON DES JEUNES 404 (MJ 404) located in Couvin, Belgium. The MANIBA social center submitted this project in February but then canceled it due to insufficient financial capacity and its legal situation (continuation plan since January 28, 2025). It therefore sought a partner from COMOB Martinique to take on the administrative, legal, and financial aspects of the project. The objectives of this project are as follows: 1) To develop autonomy, open-mindedness, and (self-)criticism. 2) Bring young people together around European values. 3) Promote group activities based on non-formal education that emphasize the optimization of social and personal skills and cooperation, aiming at the acceptance of difference and self-knowledge through peer learning and learning by doing. 4) Develop activities immersed in the natural environment (hiking, water sports, etc.). 5) Promote interculturalism by organizing activities aimed at bringing young people together and integrating them into the community in which they live. 6) Promote the physical and mental health and well-being of young people Our goal is to fight FOR the mental and physical health of young people and contribute to their well-being through sports activities that promote interculturalism. From the perspective of our work as youth workers, mental health is a major issue for young people, particularly since the COVID crisis and even five years on. It is essential for us to maintain a free, chosen, and supportive atmosphere for the young people we work with, with the aim of empowering them through the acquisition and development of their skills and knowledge. Encouraging young people to become more independent and to take a critical look at themselves, others, and society will make them more informed adults. Encouraging them to emancipate themselves through rewarding activities such as international projects promotes their independence and commitment to others.
