Objectives

Through this project, we want to demonstrate that sport, when designed and facilitated as an educational experience, can become an effective tool in youth work. It is not only about practicing a physical activity, but about creating a framework where young people can discover, experience, and embody values that are essential to life in society: inclusion, solidarity, respect for differences, equal opportunities, and responsibility towards the environment. Our ambition is to empower young people to see themselves not merely as participants in sport activities, but as actors capable of influencing how sport is practiced and organized within their associations. In this sense, the project pursues several complementary objectives: - Develop active citizenship through sport: by linking sport practice to human rights and Olympic values, young people become aware that sport is also a space for social and political participation. - Promote inclusion and equality: by experimenting with adapted and inclusive disciplines (such as sitting volleyball, boccia, or colpbol), participants discover that every young person, regardless of ability or background, has a role and can contribute to the collective dynamic. - Strengthen ecological awareness: through playful and participatory activities, such as an orienteering game focused on environmental issues, young people reflect on the environmental impacts of sport and identify concrete actions to make their practices more sustainable. - Support personal development and transversal competences: intercultural communication, teamwork, initiative-taking, critical thinking, and creativity are at the heart of the non-formal methods that will be used. From a youth work perspective, this project stands at the intersection of sport, education, and citizenship. It offers partner organisations the opportunity to experiment with and share innovative pedagogical approaches, which can later be transferred and reused in their daily activities with young people. By directly involving young people in the facilitation of workshops and the design of outputs (personal commitments, a recommendations toolkit, and action plans to be implemented after the exchange), we provide them not only with a strong intercultural experience, but also with a process of empowerment: they return with concrete ideas, tools, and the confidence needed to act as change-makers within their clubs, associations, and communities. Moreover, the project connects young people from different European countries, fostering a shared sense of European citizenship and contributing to the Erasmus+ priorities of inclusion, sustainability, and active youth participation. Finally, after having co-designed the project, the partners will meet in Athens for a preparatory visit, in order to ensure the pedagogical and logistical quality of the youth exchange.
