Objectives

The Eur-Media: Crossing Cultures project is based in the Neuhof priority neighborhood in Strasbourg, where young people make up the majority of the population but face particularly severe economic and social hardship. In fact, in this neighborhood, people under the age of 25 represent 43.8% of the population, which is higher than the average for Strasbourg (36.4%). The unemployment rate for young people under 24 is 50.2%, compared to 29.8% in Strasbourg as a whole. Furthermore, 52.8% of young people over the age of 15 are neither in education nor in employment, and the neighborhood faces a high level of disengagement from civic life, which was particularly evident in the last European elections, when the neighborhood recorded record abstention rates (61.95%), ranking among those with the lowest voter turnout in Strasbourg. Young people also face geographical, social, and economic isolation, which limits their access to European exchange opportunities and intercultural encounters. In response to these issues, EUr - Media aims to promote the social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, from areas facing social or geographical barriers within the European Union. Our organization, EDIFIS, has brought together a consortium of two associations with experience in the field of Erasmus+ youth exchanges, committed to the social inclusion of young people in difficulty and the strengthening of European values and unity. Together with YouthPath in Athens and Le Foyer des Jeunes des Marolles in Brussels, we want to offer young people aged 18 to 25 a variety of activities focusing on: - Combating misinformation about the European Union by providing them with the keys and information they need to understand how it works and what is at stake. - The social inclusion of young people, by encouraging them to discover others and engage in cultural exchanges to strengthen a shared European identity. - The promotion of the values of peace, unity, and European coexistence. - The promotion of cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue. - Encouraging young people's civic engagement and participation in their local communities. - Empowering young people by offering them the opportunity to acquire informal professional, digital, and interpersonal skills. - The acquisition of cross-cutting digital skills.
