Objectives

This project stems from a shared observation among young people, community development professionals, local organizations, and partner organizations with similar themes in their local area: a growing need to reconnect with the living world, create social bonds, and engage in collective reflection on contemporary ecological issues in the face of the climate emergency. It addresses a dual need: - to support community leaders in developing their skills so they can design and implement educational projects with strong social and ecological impact. - to actively involve young people in concrete, meaningful, and transformative projects. The project uses the living garden as an educational, sensitive, and cooperative tool. It involves designing and facilitating spaces that recreate connections between humans and ecosystems. These spaces then become platforms for social transformation, civic education, and territorial resilience. The project is part of an active pedagogy that develops autonomy, local involvement, and the transversal skills necessary for the ecological transition. Identified Needs - Among young people: Need to reconnect with reality, nature, and others. Search for meaning, vocations, and concrete experiences. Development of technical skills (planning, culture, project management) and human skills (cooperation, expression, listening). Desire to be useful, to get involved, and to act for their local area. - Among facilitators: Need to improve skills in designing, managing, and evaluating projects related to the ecological transition. Development of mediation skills, interaction with audiences, and group management. Strengthening external communication, mobilizing local resources, and promoting actions carried out. - Among the sponsoring organization: Developing a European network and learning from other experiences. - Among partner associations: Desire to share innovative teaching practices. Desire to build a local and European network focused on environmental education. Need to test collective action formats rooted in local realities and reproducible. - Among local partners: Desire to revitalize a rural area by creating shared natural spaces. Need to foster intergenerational social cohesion through unifying projects. - Among the local association: Need to train young people and facilitators Desire to raise awareness among young people, elected officials, and citizens about the ecological emergency. - Project objectives Improve environmental knowledge and awareness: Equipping facilitators with an understanding of current ecological issues (biodiversity loss, climate change, disruption of the connection to living things) and the importance of environmental education in teaching practices. Stimulating civic participation among young people by empowering them to take concrete action in their local area, to lead local initiatives, and to engage in collective and intergenerational dynamics. Empowering local communities to address ecological challenges: Promoting young people's reconnection with nature through active, sensory, and reflective teaching, enabling them to understand ecological interactions and rediscover their place within the living world. Strengthening skills in ecological leadership and civic engagement: Supporting youth leaders in developing inspiring leadership positions to mobilize young people around collective, inclusive, and ecological projects with a strong local impact. Generating educational resources and best practices: Co-constructing and disseminating materials and tools to facilitate ecological education in youth work, in order to support the ecological transition. Creating a European network of youth leaders committed to the ecological transition: Strengthening links between youth organizations to share practices, challenges, and innovations related to nature education and permaculture. Promoting sustainability and long-term impact: Sustainably anchor the skills acquired within participating organizations and local communities by promoting concrete and long-term projects related to the environment and youth. Fostering intercultural understanding through ecology by creating new projects: Encouraging intercultural exchanges between European facilitators, residents and communities, and educational institutions to jointly build a shared vision of human ecology. Raising awareness of Erasmus+ opportunities: Introducing European programs as levers for transformation by encouraging participants to initiate new projects.
