Objectives

The european meeting Weaving Inclusion : IDENTITIES & ART (TEIA) aims to strengthen inclusion, diversity, and the quality of socio-educational work in Europe through an eight-day mobility in Covilhã, Portugal, for youth workers. We aim to develop the professional skills of socio-educational staff so that they can better respond to the specific needs of young people, particularly LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent youth. The project offers an opportunity to experiment with and share participatory and creative methods, using art — participatory theater, storytelling, textile art, urban art — as a powerful tool for inclusion. It also seeks to create spaces for exchange and co-creation, where youth workers can share and adapt innovative practices within their organizations. Finally, TEIA will produce transferable and accessible educational tools designed to inspire other youth workers and organizations and to sustainably enrich the youth work sector. The project aims to strengthen the inclusive and intercultural skills of youth workers, to promote active participation and the well-being of all young people in safe and stimulating environments, and to encourage pedagogical innovation and creativity in socio-educational practices. It also seeks to disseminate good practices locally, nationally, and across Europe to maximize the project's impact, while contributing to European priorities in youth, equality, social cohesion, and quality learning. TEIA has a direct positive impact on youth work practice by providing participatory, inclusive, and creative methods that can be applied immediately in daily interventions. The project promotes the empowerment of young people and their civic engagement through non-formal and intercultural activities. It also contributes to professionalizing the sector by creating a network of youth workers capable of sharing and adapting these innovative practices, thereby strengthening the quality and recognition of socio-educational work. In summary, TEIA acts simultaneously on the professional development of youth workers, the active participation of young people, and innovation in youth work practice, with a lasting impact at local, national, and European levels.
