Objectives

This Youth Exchange brings together young people who are deeply concerned about the future of our planet and want to be part of the solution to climate change. Despite international efforts like the Paris Agreement, the world is still on track for dangerous levels of warming, leading to rising sea levels, more extreme weather, and serious risks for future generations. The participants created this project to learn, take action, and inspire others. The project will help participants: -Understand global and European climate agreements such as the Paris Agreement and the European Green Deal, and why ambitious action is needed. -Explore practical solutions like reaching net-zero emissions, calculating and reducing their carbon footprint, and making sustainable choices in food, clothing, and transport. -Recognise and counter climate change denial, misinformation, and common myths, equipping them with strong arguments to convince others. -Learn about psychological barriers (like the bystander effect and hyperbolic discounting) that keep people from acting, and discuss ways to overcome them. -Connect climate action with personal benefits – better health, financial savings, and stronger local communities. -Get inspired by examples of young climate activists who have created positive change, while discussing the dangers of climate extremism and eco-anxiety. The exchange will use non-formal education methods like debates, simulations, reflection circles, and practical upcycling workshops using the dormitory’s Precious Plastic machines. Participants will work together to design social media campaigns, create posters, and prepare school presentations, turning what they learn into concrete actions for their peers and communities. By the end of the project, participants will not only understand climate change better but will feel empowered to take action and encourage others to do the same. The results of this project will live on through follow-up activities in schools, dormitory events, online campaigns, and continuous upcycling initiatives – creating a ripple effect of sustainability that lasts well beyond the exchange.
