Objectives

The “VolunTools” training course aims to improve the quality, inclusion, and sustainability of youth volunteering by strengthening the competences of youth workers who coordinate, support, or mentor volunteers. From a youth work perspective, our goal is to equip youth workers with practical tools and shared standards that help them create volunteering experiences that are inclusive, structured, and meaningful — especially for young people with fewer opportunities. Youth organisations across Europe increasingly recognise the need to improve how they involve and support volunteers. Many face challenges in ensuring long-term motivation, clear task design, and learning recognition. Some are experienced ESC organisers seeking to improve further; others are still preparing to apply for the ESC Quality Label. “VolunTools” connects these diverse realities through peer learning and non-formal education, giving participants the space to exchange ideas, co-develop strategies, and work towards shared goals. The main objectives of the project are: -To increase the professional capacity of 27 youth workers and indirecly the partner organisations’ capacity in planning, coordinating, and supporting high-quality volunteering. -To promote inclusive youth work by equipping participants with tools for engaging young people with fewer opportunities. -To raise awareness of the role of volunteering in promoting active citizenship, community impact, and youth participation. -To support participating organisations in improving or developing their volunteer programmes, aligned with the ESC Quality Label standards. By implementing this project, we want to improve both the individual skills of youth workers and also the quality of youth work practices in their organisations — helping them grow into more strategic, inclusive, and sustainable actors in the field of youth volunteering.
