Objectives

The "Waves of Sustainability" project aims to empower young people through environmental education, intercultural learning, and active participation in community-based sustainability practices. Set in the unique natural environment of Lake Tisza, the project brings together youth from seven European countries to explore how they can become active agents of change in protecting water ecosystems and promoting a greener future. Through experiential learning, outdoor activities (e.g. cycling, kayaking, nature observation), and hands-on sustainability actions (e.g. upcycling, selective waste sorting, creative reuse), participants will strengthen their environmental awareness and sense of responsibility. The program also includes reflection sessions and workshops that support self-awareness, teamwork, and civic engagement - key competences in youth work. Our objectives are to: - Promote pro-environmental attitudes and water-related awareness through interactive and locally embedded learning. - Develop participants' soft skills such as communication, cooperation, and problem-solving through intercultural teamwork. - Foster inclusion by involving participants with fewer opportunities and promoting equal participation in all activities. - Support digital literacy and creativity through collaborative online content creation (e.g. social media posts, videos, and a project booklet). - Provide young people with meaningful international experience that enhances their employability and lifelong learning. By the end of the project, participants will not only gain knowledge and skills but also become motivated ambassadors of sustainability in their own communities, contributing to the broader goals of the European Youth Strategy and the Erasmus+ Youth Quality Standards.
