Our project aims to support youth engagement in advocacy and strengthen their understanding and identification with the European Union identity. Through non-formal and informal educational methods, we seek to empower young people to become active, informed, and influential members of their communities. The specific objectives we intend to achieve: First, we aim to enhance the advocacy skills and civic engagement of young participants, enabling them to effectively voice their opinions and influence policy decisions at local, national, and European levels. Advocacy is crucial for youth to actively participate in democratic processes and ensure their voices are heard. By developing these skills, we empower young people to become catalysts for change in their communities and beyond. To achieve this, we will conduct interactive workshops on advocacy techniques, public speaking, and lobbying. Participants will engage in role-playing and simulation exercises to practice and refine their advocacy strategies. They will also design and implement advocacy campaigns on issues relevant to them, providing hands-on experience in planning and execution. Furthermore, we will connect participants with experienced advocates and policymakers through mentorship programs, offering guidance and support throughout their advocacy journeys. Second, we aim to strengthen young participants’ understanding of the European Union’s history, values, and institutions, fostering a strong sense of EU identity and belonging. A robust EU identity encourages unity, cooperation, and a shared sense of purpose among member states. It helps young people appreciate the benefits of EU membership and the importance of collective action. We will use non-formal educational methods, such as interactive lectures, group discussions, and multimedia presentations, to teach participants about the EU’s history, values, and functioning. Additionally, we will organize intercultural nights where participants from different EU countries can share their cultures, traditions, and perspectives, promoting mutual understanding and respect. Participants will also engage in EU simulation games, such as model European Parliament sessions, to gain practical insights into how the EU operates. Furthermore, the activity where we will host a stakeholder would also be necessary for participants to understand better the EU structure and dynamics. Third, we aim to promote intercultural collaboration and understanding among young participants from diverse backgrounds, enhancing social cohesion and reducing prejudices. Intercultural collaboration is vital in a multicultural EU as it helps young people appreciate diversity, build cross-cultural friendships, and work effectively in international teams. Participants will work on joint projects that require cooperation and exchange of ideas, fostering teamwork and mutual respect. Fourth, we aim to equip young participants with key competences and life skills, such as critical thinking, communication, leadership, and digital literacy, which are essential for their personal and professional development. Developing these skills prepares young people for the challenges of the modern world, making them more adaptable, employable, and capable of contributing positively to society. We will offer a variety of skill-building workshops focused on developing specific skills, such as leadership training, digital literacy courses, and critical thinking exercises. Participants will have opportunities to apply their skills in real-world contexts, such as community service projects, internships, and volunteering. We will also promote peer-to-peer learning, where participants teach and learn from each other, fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment. Finally, we aim to motivate young people to take an active role in their communities and promote social responsibility, encouraging them to contribute to societal well-being and sustainable development. Active participation and social responsibility are cornerstones of a healthy democracy. Engaging youth in community service and social initiatives raise a sense of purpose and responsibility. To this end, we will facilitate community-based projects where participants identify local issues and work together to address them, promoting social responsibility and civic engagement. We will provide information and opportunities for participants to volunteer in various social and environmental causes. Regular reflection sessions will be organized where participants can discuss their experiences, challenges, and learnings, reinforcing the importance of social responsibility.
