Community development

Objectives

The aim of the project is to enable young people participating in the exchange to become active members of society in an open, proactive and active manner, thereby connecting Hungarian-speaking young people from two different countries and organizing and running a joint sporting event. We want to empower young people to become more active at the community level, recognize their own responsibility in social and interpersonal challenges, and proactively organize and participate in activities that contribute to the development of their community. It is important for us that participants experience through their own experiences that joint action can bring about change, that being part of active processes is good and inspiring, and that involvement plays a significant role in shaping the future of the community. We want to achieve this goal by organizing and implementing a Teqball championship, where young people can experience what it means to belong to a community and work together towards a common goal through an attractive sporting activity. The Teqball championship is an attractive leisure program that appeals to young people. Through its planning and implementation, participants can develop important and useful skills for community participation, such as assertive communication, responsibility, listening to each other, and sharing tasks optimized according to strengths and weaknesses. During the program, young people from different backgrounds learn to work together towards a specific goal. This promotes tolerance, empathy, and intercultural sensitivity, which will benefit them in the long term, both in the labor market and in their private lives. Organizing and running the championship gives them a sense of achievement. Young people experience that they are capable of bringing about real change in their community, which increases their activity and responsibility in the long term. In addition to all this, in order to organize the Teqball championship, participants need to develop and improve specific skills, such as sports and ethics knowledge, project planning and preparation, financial and economic skills, organizational and logistical knowledge, and we build the exchange program process on this. Thus, by the end of the exchange, with the Teqball championship under their belts, participants will have acquired skills that will not only enable them to actively participate in community projects, but also be useful in their future professional and personal lives, during their studies and throughout their careers.
