Objectives

Aim The aim of this project was linked to the objectives of the EU Youth Strategy which is to engage young people; to connect young people to EU participatory processes such as the EU Youth Dialogue Cycle 11 and 12 and for young people to have an influence on the Irish Presidency of the EU. Objectives: -Engage young people in EU Youth Dialogue cycle 11 implementation phase and cycle 12 exploration phase; We engaged 139 young people in the process, involved young people in the planning, implementation of the project events and in the dissemination, communication opportunities. -Select and support three young people to attend the EU Youth Conference in Cyprus; We selected three young people from the project to attend the EU Youth Conference hosted by Cyprus, briefing these youth delegates and using the consultation results from the events to engage them. -Engage young people in the Ireland’s EU Presidency of the EU; Young people engaged in the preparation for Ireland’s hosting of the EU Presidency. We supported the youth delegates to decide on the way that the EU Youth Goals should be reviewed through consultation at the events and nominating a youth delegate to the EU commission’s task force on the revision of the EU Youth Goals. We supported the youth delegates to engage in the European Steering Group for the EU Youth Dialogue and met weekly with 5 youth delegates to engage them in the preparation for the EU Youth Conference in Dublin in Sep 2026. Increase the capacity of young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities to engage in youth participation initiatives at a national and European level. We Engaged young people from diverse backgrounds in cycle 11 of the EU Youth Dialogue process by reaching out to youth organisations that work with young people from minority ethnic backgrounds and young people with fewer opportunities to engage and bring young people to the events. At the events and in the youth group meetings there was significant representation of young people from minority ethnic backgrounds including the traveller community. We organised to have an event in the EU Parliament offices and use the interactive facilities to engage and inform young people on the EU, upskilling on how to engage in the EU and influencing policies that effect them. -Consult with young people on the revision of the EU Youth Goals. We used the physical events to consult with the young people on how the EU Youth Goals, this informed the process to be used at the EU Youth Conference in Ireland in Sep 2026. This project brought young people together with decision makers, at the events we invited ministers but they weren’t available and sent officials from their office instead and we did the event on the 1st April in partnership with the EU Parliament offices in Ireland. We organised the third event to be during European Youth Week and uploaded it to the EU Youth Portal for information.
