Objectives

Young people today face increasing challenges related to mental health, including stress, anxiety, and burnout, often compounded by stigma and a lack of safe spaces to express emotions or build resilience. Unrealistic beauty standards amplified by social media, the absence of mental health education in schools, and limited access to professional support deepen these struggles, leaving many youth isolated and disconnected. Factors such as eco-anxiety, digital dependency, and fear of rejection further prevent young people from embracing their authentic selves. Data from the OECD shows that anxiety and depression among young people have risen across all EU countries, underlining the urgency of addressing this issue. Creative expression and art-based practices, particularly Art Therapy, have proven to be effective tools for improving mental wellbeing, reducing anxiety and depression, and fostering self-esteem. Yet access to these methods is limited, especially in non-formal, intercultural settings where young people can explore identity and belonging. This project responds to these gaps by combining artistic exploration with mental health awareness in a safe, inclusive, and intercultural environment. It also builds on the growing recognition that youth work plays a vital role in promoting mental health, providing youth workers with the tools and confidence to support young people more effectively. The objectives of the project are: 1. Equip participants with practical coping tools; 2. Foster intercultural connection and solidarity; 3. Build sustainable peer-support networks; 4. Promote resilience and authenticity; 5. Raise public awareness of mental health and creativity; 6. Promote multicultural dialogue and the European values of tolerance, diversity and inclusion; 7. Raise visibility to Erasmus+ program.
