The project was born from a shared reflection among a group of young people from Italy, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Poland, and Serbia, who met during a previous international exchange. A common concern emerged: many young people in their local contexts do not feel represented by the values of the European Union, nor actively involved in their defense and promotion. These values—human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and human rights—often appear distant, abstract, or devoid of real meaning. This sense of distance was explored through participatory workshops conducted in all partner countries prior to the project's drafting. The activities confirmed the need to create spaces where young people can freely engage with one another, give personal and collective meaning to European values, and translate them into expressive forms that are understandable and communicable to their peers. The proposed exchange was born with precisely this aim: to offer participants a concrete opportunity for intercultural encounter, collective reflection, and shared creativity. In an intense and engaging week, young people from diverse backgrounds will discuss the meanings and challenges of European values in the current context, drawing on their personal experiences, cultural differences, and the specific perspectives of their countries. Through non-formal activities—cooperative games, creative workshops, democratic simulations, guided reflection, and artistic expression—participants will explore the six founding values of the EU in dynamic, accessible, and participatory ways. The goal is to create an environment where every young person can identify with, express themselves, and actively contribute to building a shared narrative of Europe. The skills acquired during the exchange will be translated into creative productions—poems, drawings, installations, videos, infographics, comics—that will make the values more concrete, visible, and communicable. All materials will be used to foster dialogue with local communities and other young people, through public events organized in the six participating countries, starting with one in Ancona on Europe Day. In this way, the exchange will have an impact beyond the direct participants, spreading the message and strengthening collective awareness of the values that unite the Union. The specific objectives of the project are: - To offer 30 young people and 6 leaders a meaningful intercultural experience to discuss the values and challenges of contemporary Europe; - To deepen, through non-formal education methods, their understanding of the six founding values of the EU and stimulate critical reflection on their current meaning; - To develop participants' personal and social skills for active participation; - To promote a sense of belonging to the European Union through peer dialogue and the creative development of shared content; - To raise awareness among peers and local communities of the importance of European values through artistic activities and participatory storytelling. Through this youth exchange, we aim to foster participants' awareness of being part of a larger community, strengthen their sense of civic responsibility, and offer them the tools to express their views authentically and proactively. The young people involved will not only have a transformative experience, but will also become active promoters of European values in their own communities, generating an impact that will last well beyond the end of the project.
