The Erasmus+ youth project *"Zero Kilometres, Infinite Flavours"* brings together young people aged 18–22 from Italy, Spain, and North Macedonia to promote healthy, sustainable, and locally rooted food systems through the "Kilometre 0" (Km0) concept. By integrating traditional gastronomic knowledge with innovation and intercultural exchange, the project empowers youth to become active advocates for sustainable consumption and local food sovereignty within their communities. From a youth work perspective, the project is structured around the following key objectives: 1. **Revaluing and Digitally Preserving Gastronomic Heritage** Through intercultural dialogue and experiential learning, participants will co-create an open-access, multilingual digital cookbook featuring traditional recipes based on Km0 products. This multimedia resource will serve as a tool for cultural preservation and dissemination, highlighting regional food diversity and sustainability. 2. **Fostering Responsible Consumption Habits** Young participants will engage directly with local producers, farmers, and artisans to experience the Km0 model firsthand. Equipped with this knowledge, they will act as multipliers in their home communities, promoting the health, environmental, and socio-economic benefits of consuming locally sourced food. 3. **Developing Key Youth Competencies** The project supports the acquisition of essential skills aligned with green and social entrepreneurship. Participants will learn how to design sustainable business models linked to local products, while also strengthening digital competencies through the creation of multimedia content. Additionally, the programme fosters environmental awareness by critically examining the ecological footprint of food choices. 4. **Strengthening Intergenerational Dialogue** A structured framework for intergenerational exchange will be established, enabling youth to learn directly from local elders and producers. In return, young people will support these communities in digitizing and promoting their traditional knowledge and products, bridging generational and technological gaps. 5. **Promoting Recognition of Non-Formal Learning** The competencies gained throughout the project—particularly in sustainability, civic engagement, and local economic development—will be formally recognized through the Youthpass certification system. This ensures that the learning outcomes are visible, validated, and transferable beyond the scope of the project.
