Preventing radicalisationDigital safetyPromotion of alternative forms of participation

Objectives

The TRUTH project stems from the shared need of young people and partner organisations to address the challenges related to disinformation, radicalisation and youth polarisation, connected to the increasing use of digital tools and generative artificial intelligence. The proposal was built from the bottom up, through co-creation processes involving group leaders and youth organisations, starting from the experience of VERIFY and from a needs analysis carried out in the different local contexts. TRUTH aims to develop resilience, critical thinking and youth protagonism, providing concrete tools for prevention and social inclusion. The SMART objectives of the project are the following: Youth empowerment: to develop critical thinking, fact-checking skills and media literacy in order to counter fake news, digital manipulation and risks linked to generative artificial intelligence. Prevention of radicalisation and polarisation: to explore the connections between digital isolation, online radicalisation and extremism, building resilience against hate speech and polarisation. Promotion of intercultural and interreligious dialogue: to foster inclusion, peace and democratic participation through the exchange between different cultures, religions and identities. Active youth participation and democracy: to involve young people as co-creators of safe and ethical digital engagement strategies, and as promoters of the responsible use of technologies, strengthening their active citizenship and exploring alternative forms of participation through the digital dimension. Digital security and data protection: to raise awareness and skills on privacy issues, personal data protection, ethical use of digital tools, and recognition of digital threats. Production of a concrete output: to co-create a toolkit (or practical instrument) that can be used by young people and partner organisations to prevent disinformation and extremism, and to disseminate related good practices. The project is based on non-formal education as a methodological approach and on the protagonism of participants as the driving force for change. Through workshops, role plays, simulations, study visits and co-creation activities, TRUTH aims to strengthen transversal competences, promote intercultural dialogue and ensure a lasting impact within local communities and at European level. The final output, the toolbox co-created by young people, will represent a tangible result to be shared and multiplied, contributing to the sustainability and dissemination of results well beyond the project’s duration.
