Objectives

The project "European Voices for Identity, Citizenship, and Engagement" is a Youth Exchange with partner countries. The initiative was born from the need to offer young people an opportunity to engage in dialogue and reflection on fundamental European values – democracy, human rights, peace, tolerance, inclusion and solidarity – while developing their active role as citizens in today’s society. The exchange aims to increase young people’s awareness of the challenges that the European Union is called to face, such as political disaffection, social fragmentation and the spread of disinformation. Through non-formal learning methods, the project will provide participants with tools to critically analyse these issues, to recognize and counter fake news, and to strengthen their capacity for democratic participation. The project also seeks to promote respect for human dignity, equality, freedom and the rule of law, encouraging participants to see these values not as abstract principles but as guidelines for daily life and collective coexistence. By engaging in workshops, debates and intercultural activities, young people will experience first-hand the meaning of human rights, the importance of dialogue across cultures, and the role of solidarity in building more inclusive societies. A central priority is the involvement of young people with fewer opportunities, ensuring that those facing economic, social or cultural disadvantage feel part of the European democratic process and can contribute actively at local, national and European levels. In line with the Erasmus+ Youth objectives and the EU Youth Strategy 2019–2027, the project is aligned particularly with Youth Goal #1 (Connecting EU with Youth) and Youth Goal #9 (Space and Participation for All). It intends to bring young people closer to the European Union, raise their knowledge of the opportunities it offers, and create inclusive spaces where they can express themselves, share their voices and feel empowered as actors of change. The youth exchange intends to: - Strengthen awareness of European values (human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, human rights) through reflection on the lessons learned from history and the achievements of the European democratic process. - Stimulate young people's interest in contemporary issues, fostering a sense of active participation and co-responsibility with respect to current challenges, such as misinformation, social polarization, and the risk of exclusion. - Promote universal respect for human rights and individual freedoms, encouraging young people to recognize how mutual respect breaks down social, economic, and cultural differences, creating concrete foundations for peaceful coexistence and intercultural dialogue. - Encourage the active participation of young people with fewer opportunities by offering tools and opportunities to feel involved in the European decision-making process and involving them in experiences of civic engagement, social volunteering, and intercultural participation. - Develop a sense of European citizenship by strengthening young people's connection to the EU and their awareness of the opportunities it offers, fostering their ability to make an impact at the local, national, and European levels. - Strengthen transversal and interpersonal skills (communication, critical thinking, collaboration, leadership) through non-formal education methodologies that make learning experiential, inclusive, and motivating. - Encourage intercultural dialogue and cooperation among young people from diverse backgrounds, helping to overcome stereotypes and prejudices while respecting cultural differences and shared values. - Promote youth mobility and awareness of the Erasmus+ program, making participants ambassadors of European citizenship and promoters of good practices in their local communities. - Foster inclusion and solidarity through activities that encourage tolerance and the full integration of disadvantaged young people, ensuring equal opportunities and combating all forms of discrimination.
