The Crossroads Youth Exchange has been designed as a meeting point for young people from seven countries – Italy, France, Spain, Lithuania, Hungary, Georgia and Ukraine – who live the reality of migration from two different perspectives: countries of arrival and countries of departure. By bringing together 28 young participants, 7 group leaders and 2 Italian facilitators (37 people in total), the project aims to create a safe space where youth can learn, reflect and act on the challenges and opportunities linked to migration, intercultural dialogue and inclusion. Main Objectives From the perspective of youth work practice, Crossroads has four central objectives: Raise awareness and empathy on migration Help young people understand the inequalities and challenges migrants face in society. Provide safe and creative spaces for participants to explore the emotional dimension of the migratory journey, building empathy and solidarity. Strengthen youth competences to work with migrants and refugees Equip participants with practical skills for intercultural dialogue, teamwork and conflict management. Encourage them to discover creative tools – theatre, storytelling, art, digital media – to use in youth work with social minorities. Promote inclusion, diversity and active participation Actively involve at least 60% of participants with fewer opportunities (NEETs, rural youth, displaced youth, minorities). Empower them to take visible roles during the exchange and dissemination, making them actors of change in their communities. Build the European and intercultural dimension of youth work Connect countries of arrival (Italy, France, Spain) and departure (Lithuania, Hungary, Georgia, Ukraine), creating a balanced dialogue on migration. Promote Erasmus+ and non-formal education as tools for youth empowerment, solidarity and sustainability. Contribution to Youth Work Practice Non-formal education methods: The project uses creative and experiential methods such as simulations, theatre, intercultural games and storytelling. This strengthens the capacity of youth work to address sensitive topics in accessible ways. Digital dimension: Participants will create digital stories, videos and posters, gaining competences in digital literacy and online campaigning. These outputs will serve as resources for youth workers across Europe. Green practices: The project integrates eco-teams, vegetarian meals, recycling and green travel. This shows how youth work can combine inclusion and environmental responsibility. Recognition of learning: Through Youthpass, participants reflect on and document their competences, strengthening the recognition of youth work in education and employment pathways. Long-Term Vision The ultimate aim is not only to implement one exchange but to empower young people as multipliers of change. By engaging them in dissemination activities, national workshops and online campaigns, Crossroads ensures that learning continues after the exchange. Participants will become ambassadors of empathy, inclusion and diversity, motivating their peers and influencing local communities. The consortium also sees Crossroads as a stepping stone for long-term cooperation. Partners already plan follow-up projects (KA210, KA153, ESC) to deepen cooperation and bring methods tested here into new contexts.
