Shepherds of Tomorrow responds to a dual urgency: to safeguard the intangible cultural heritage of transhumance in Southern Italy and to reconnect a generation of young digital natives to their roots through contemporary languages and media. Transhumance is addressed as a historical system of land management and as a body of oral tradition that has shaped Mediterranean identities and landscapes. The project aims to document, reinterpret and disseminate this heritage — including the myths of lycanthropy — using digital tools and ethical criteria, raising environmental awareness linked to pastoral practices, strengthening key skills (digital, intercultural, personal and social) and producing a collection of digital stories that empower participants as cultural ambassadors.
