he project aims to achieve a dual objective that combines the personal growth of young people with the strengthening of youth work practices. On the one hand, it seeks to promote the personal, social, and intercultural development of participants, offering them a transformative experience capable of enhancing their self-esteem, awareness, and relational skills. On the other hand, it aims to consolidate and innovate youth work by introducing inclusive methodologies and tools of non-formal education that can become a lasting asset for the organisations involved. The methodological core of the project is the Theatre of the Oppressed, created by Augusto Boal, which enables young people to explore and reframe situations of conflict, hardship, and oppression in their lives. Through this method, participants become “spect-actors,” that is, active protagonists rather than mere observers, capable of reflecting critically and creatively on the social and personal dynamics that affect them. Learning takes place experientially and holistically, involving body, mind, and emotions, and fostering the development of transversal competences such as intercultural communication, collaboration, conflict management, shared leadership, empathy, and creativity. From the perspective of youth work practice, the project aims to strengthen young people’s active participation and support their capacity to exercise a conscious democratic citizenship. Special attention is devoted to the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, in line with Erasmus+ 2025 priorities: boys and girls living in socio-economically disadvantaged conditions, in urban peripheries or in contexts marked by marginalisation and lack of opportunities. Their involvement is not only a methodological choice but the very condition that gives meaning to the project, since it transforms an international exchange into an experience of emancipation and empowerment. The project is also part of an ongoing process of collaboration and mutual trust among the groups involved. Following previous mobility experiences and online meetings, the young people have already built meaningful relationships, and this new exchange represents the natural continuation of that path. In this way, the activity not only strengthens the connection between the young people and the communities of Le Piagge and Dheisheh, but also consolidates a transnational youth work network that promotes high-quality and inclusive educational practices. The ultimate goal is to contribute to building a more cohesive and resilient Euro-Mediterranean community, capable of embracing intercultural dialogue as a tool for justice and peace.
