Preventing racism and discriminationPreventing radicalisationInclusion of marginalised young people

Objectives

The project stems from the urgent need to promote authentic and constructive dialogue between young people of different faiths, cultures and backgrounds, in a European and Mediterranean context marked by tensions, stereotypes and religious and cultural discrimination. The initiative is in line with the priorities outlined by the European Union in terms of social inclusion, intercultural dialogue and the fight against discrimination. The EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 strongly emphasises the need to strengthen social cohesion and respect for diversity by promoting open, inclusive and dialogue-oriented spaces for youth participation. Similarly, the EU Action Plan against Racism 2020-2025 and the Action Plan for Integration and Inclusion 2021-2027 emphasise the urgency of combating religious and cultural discrimination by encouraging initiatives that promote peaceful coexistence and mutual recognition. Furthermore, data provided by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) show that prejudices and stereotypes related to religious or cultural affiliation continue to have a significant impact on the lives of young people, with negative effects particularly in terms of education, access to employment and social participation. In light of this evidence, the project responds to a real and documented need, offering young people an experience that puts European guidelines into practice, transforming them into concrete actions for learning, dialogue and building more inclusive communities. Based on this vision, clear and concrete objectives have been defined. Firstly, the project aims to offer 30 young people a space for interreligious and intercultural dialogue, where they can openly exchange views, express their identities and learn to build bridges of mutual understanding. This space will feature interactive and dynamic activities that will facilitate the exchange of experiences and the creation of relationships based on respect and trust. A second objective is to activate an inclusive process that supports in particular those who have suffered religious or cultural discrimination. Through an empathetic approach and group support, the project aims to restore voice and dignity to those who have found themselves in conditions of exclusion, stimulating dynamics of solidarity and mutual support that can have a lasting impact even beyond the exchange experience. A further goal is the prevention of radicalisation, pursued through the use of non-formal education and the integration of good practices. Young people will be guided in recognising the mechanisms that fuel extremism and polarisation, developing skills to counter them and promote alternative narratives based on dialogue, cooperation and social responsibility. The project also aims to enhance the key competences of participants and promote their personal and professional development. Intercultural communication, teamwork, creativity, critical thinking and conflict management will be at the heart of the programme, enabling young people to acquire tools that can be used in everyday life, in their studies and in their future employment. This growth process will be enhanced through learning recognition tools such as Youthpass. Finally, a cross-cutting and fundamental objective is to strengthen young people's pro-European sentiment, rooting it in the values of solidarity, unity among peoples and active citizenship promoted by the Erasmus+ programme. The exchange thus becomes not only an opportunity for individual learning, but also a collective experience that encourages participants to feel part of a wider European community committed to the defence of human rights, peace and social cohesion. In summary, the objectives of the project are: - To offer 30 young people a space for interreligious and intercultural dialogue; - To activate an inclusive process in support of those who have suffered religious or cultural discrimination; - To prevent radicalisation through non-formal education; - To enhance the key competences of participants and promote their personal and professional development; - To strengthen the pro-European sentiment based on solidarity, unity among peoples and the values promoted by the Erasmus+ programme.
