Objectives

The ECO-NARRATIVE project aims to empower young people—especially those from rural, peripheral, and marginalized contexts—by turning them from passive spectators into active digital citizens and storytellers for change. Through non-formal education and creative media practices, the project addresses three interconnected challenges: the digital divide, eco-anxiety and inaction, and disinformation. From a youth work practice perspective, the project seeks to create a safe, inclusive, and intercultural learning environment where young people can build agency, voice, and competence to navigate the “double transition”, green and digital, that is reshaping Europe. The project’s main objectives are: - Digital Inclusion and Empowerment: To equip young people with accessible digital storytelling tools and media literacy skills, enabling them to use technology as a democratic instrument. This reduces the digital divide and fosters meaningful civic participation; - Critical Thinking and Active Citizenship: To strengthen young people’s ability to critically deconstruct fake news, greenwashing, and polarized narratives, turning awareness into constructive dialogue and youth-led advocacy; - Transforming Eco-Anxiety into Action: To help participants channel environmental concerns into positive communication campaigns and local advocacy, cultivating a sense of responsibility and ownership toward sustainability and climate Justice; - Intercultural Cooperation and European Values: To promote transnational teamwork among youth from five countries (Italy, Germany, Greece, Spain, Serbia), enhancing solidarity, empathy, and intercultural dialogue through collaborative “Digital Story Sprints.”; - Recognition and Validation of Non-Formal Learning: To provide formal recognition of skills gained through the Youthpass, empowering participants to value and transfer their competences in future learning, employment, and civic contexts; - Strengthening Youth Work Practice: To test and disseminate an innovative methodology, the Digital Story Sprint, combining media literacy, environmental awareness, and participatory storytelling, offering youth workers a replicable tool to engage marginalized youth. Ultimately, ECO-NARRATIVE uses youth work as a transformative practice: it connects learning to real-life issues, enhances youth voice in digital and green transitions, and builds a lasting European network of eco-digital storytellers committed to inclusion, sustainability, and active citizenship.
