Objectives

One of the most significant concerns facing young people today is the global climate crisis, which the Climate Ambassadors initiative aims to address as an environmental and communication challenge. Although there is scientific knowledge, it is often difficult to understand, unavailable, or distorted by false information. Despite being some of the most passionate participants in European climate movements, young people often lack the tools needed for effective and responsible communication. Climate Ambassadors, in addition to promoting intercultural understanding and cooperation among young adults (18–25 years old) from five different European nations, will address the crucial requirements and concerns surrounding climate crisis communication. Participants in this youth exchange can learn about impact storytelling, environmental reporting, and climate journalism in a fun environment. Training and empowering people to become aware, responsible, and actively involved communicators in global climate adaptation and mitigation is the aim. From a youth work perspective, we aim to: -Giving young people the media literacy, critical thinking, and practical journalism, storytelling, photography, and videography skills they need to fight misinformation and create engaging stories will empower them as climate communicators. -Transforming young people from passive information consumers into active "climate ambassadors" who may inspire peers and communities locally and across Europe is known as active youth participation and civic engagement. -Creating a safe space where 30 individuals from five different nations can come together, exchange ideas, and understand climate change as a shared European and global responsibility. -Inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities: at least 8 participants facing economic, geographic, or educational barriers will be selected for the exchange. They will receive reinforced preparation and support, ensuring the project fosters equal participation and addresses how climate change disproportionately affects marginalized groups. -We aim to improve critical competencies (digital, media, teamwork, critical thinking and creativity) that are beneficial for participants both for their personal and professional lives as well as for climate activism by utilizing participatory techniques like Climate Fresk workshop, 2 Tonnes workshop, simulation games, and peer-to-peer reflection. The project's ultimate goal is to produce a new generation of climate ambassadors who can inspire others, spread awareness and maintain long-term communication campaigns beyond the exchange.
