Objectives

With this project we want to strengthen youth work practice by showing how humour can be used as a positive tool for youth development and wellbeing. Young people today face stress, discrimination and difficulties in building healthy social relationships. Youth workers often look for creative ways to support them and this project responds to that need by using humour not as a joke at someone’s expense, but as a method for inclusion, resilience and building competences. The project aims to give young people an international experience where they can reflect, learn and grow together, while also giving youthworkers practical examples of how to work with humour in non-formal education. The objectives are: *To support mental wellbeing of 24 participants from 4 countries by enabling them to explore humour as a positive coping tool. *To develop key social competences of 24participants from 4 countries during a 7day youth exchange with least 90% of participants reporting increased confidence. *To encourage healthy and inclusive social interactions of 24 participants from 4 countries, with at least 90% of participants stating in the final evaluation that they experienced an inclusive environment. *To develop a deeper understanding of how humour can build resilience against exclusion and bullying of 24 participants from 4 countries *To co-create a “Humour & wellbeing Zine” brochure to be used during the project and shared with 15 youth organizations and 500 youth afterwards. *To strengthen the European citizenship and participation of 24 participants from 4 countries, with at least 4 follow-up local workshops carried out in each partner country to disseminate results. Through these objectives, the project will not only benefit the young participants, but also provide inspiration and resources for youthworkers and organisations looking for new ways to support mental health, social competences and inclusive values in their daily practice.
