Quality and innovation of youth workNew learning and teaching methods and approaches

Objectives

The project stems from the shared need of eight European organizations to strengthen the quality of youth work through more engaging and inclusive educational tools. Specifically, it focuses on educational role play, a methodology already widespread but often used fragmentedly or without adequate methodological support. The goal is to make it more structured, informed, and accessible to youth workers, enabling them to more effectively address complex challenges such as inclusion, participation, conflict management, and social representation. Through an intensive, hands-on training program, 24 youth workers from eight countries will acquire concrete skills to design, facilitate, and evaluate role-play activities. Learning will be practice-oriented: simulations, guided debriefings, and co-creation sessions will develop skills directly transferable to daily work with young people. The project will lead to the co-creation of four original educational scenarios, which will be tested in different local contexts and compiled in an open-access toolkit. This tool will include not only the scenarios, but also a methodological guide, facilitation strategies, and suggestions for adapting the method to different groups and situations. Thus, the project will provide the youth work sector with a practical and up-to-date resource, designed to be used by external practitioners as well. Finally, the project aims to build a stable network between the eight partner organizations and the 24 youth workers involved, fostering the exchange of inclusive practices, professional exchange, and the emergence of new shared project ideas. This will allow for the consolidation of a transnational community of practitioners and organizations that will continue to develop innovative methodologies beyond the project's duration.
