Objectives

The project seeks to empower youth workers as catalysts of the green transition in rural Europe. Rural areas, despite being strategic for food production, biodiversity, and renewable energy, often face depopulation, brain-drain, and a disconnection between young people and local opportunities. At the same time, rural regions are laboratories for experimentation in sustainable agriculture, eco-building, and regenerative land management, sectors that represent real career opportunities for youth. Youth work can act as the bridge: connecting young people’s environmental awareness with practical competences, vocational pathways, and a renewed sense of belonging to their territories. Objectives: Train youth workers as “Green Coaches” able to design educational activities that combine technical know-how (gardening, permaculture, green building), life skills (collaboration, communication, resilience), and transformative skills (systems thinking, ecological intelligence). Reframe rural youth work as vocationally relevant, by experimenting with methodologies in regenerative agriculture and land stewardship, directly involving eco-practitioners, farmers, and eco-designers as co-educators. Develop the use of land and gardens as multifunctional learning ecosystems, where young people can explore sustainability not only as a lifestyle but as a professional field. Translate awareness into action by guiding youth to turn ecological knowledge into concrete projects, practices, and potential green careers. Strengthen rural youth work organisations by providing them with tools, methods, and recognition, so they can become active actors in local green transition strategies. From a youth work practice perspective, the project redefines the youth worker as a facilitator of transformation and vocational exploration: someone who designs participatory learning spaces where ecological knowledge, emotional engagement, and career guidance intersect.
