Objectives

GreenSpirED arises from the awareness that the climate crisis is not only an environmental issue but also a social, educational and psychological one. More and more young people experience eco-anxiety, disorientation and fear, feeling powerless in the face of such complex global phenomena. Hence the need to train and support youth workers, key figures in working with the new generations, providing them with concrete tools to transform this discomfort into an opportunity for growth, awareness and active participation. The main objective is to strengthen youth workers’ capacity to address sustainability as a cross-cutting theme, connecting educational, social and professional aspects. This means, on the one hand, enhancing the competences of youth workers themselves and, on the other, generating lasting impacts on the young people they work with daily. The specific objectives of the project are: - To increase knowledge and awareness of youth workers on the climate crisis, linking scientific data, ethical reflections and social implications, so as to provide them with solid and updated foundations for developing educational pathways. - To promote non-formal and inclusive education methods, placing young people at the centre as active protagonists, fostering participation, critical thinking and creativity, strengthening transversal competences (green soft skills) such as leadership, communication, collaboration and resilience, increasingly required in the labour market, especially in sectors linked to the ecological transition. - To valorise inclusion: particular attention will be paid to young people with fewer opportunities, who are often excluded from environmental education processes. The project aims to provide tools to make sustainability accessible to all, regardless of starting conditions. This will all be useful to create a shared and replicable educational toolkit, collecting practical activities, methodologies and good practices developed during the mobility, useful not only to direct participants but also to partner organisations and other youth organisations across Europe. From a youth work perspective, GreenSpirED aims to fill a training gap: youth workers often lack sufficient tools to systematically integrate sustainability into their educational activities. The project thus seeks to strengthen their role as facilitators of change, enabling them to guide young people in pathways of active citizenship, climate justice and the green transition. In this sense, the project objectives are directly linked to the Erasmus+ programme’s priorities: promoting inclusion and diversity, supporting the green and digital transitions, strengthening young people’s participation in democratic life and increasing the quality of youth work in Europe.
