Objectives

With the CHAIR project, we aim to offer youth workers the opportunity to develop practical and digital skills through an immersive, collaborative, and inclusive learning experience rooted in the rural context. The training course responds to increasingly urgent needs in the field of socio-educational work: the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, the valorisation of local resources, the use of creative and digital tools, and the promotion of personal and community well-being. From the perspective of youth work practice, the project intends to: Develop manual and digital competences of youth workers Through construction workshops and digital co-design with SketchUp Free, participants will learn to combine hands-on work with accessible technological tools, acquiring new skills applicable in their local contexts. Promote practical and creative tools for working with young people The methods tested – from recycling natural materials to using digital platforms – will become replicable tools for inclusive socio-educational activities, especially in rural or disadvantaged areas. Strengthen inclusion and youth participation The objects built will not only be material products but also social tools that foster dialogue, play, learning, and community gathering, accessible also to people with physical disabilities. In this way, CHAIR aims to demonstrate how “building together” can become a vehicle for participation and active citizenship. Stimulate social imagination and community regeneration Social design labs and the collective construction of objects will encourage participants to reflect on the role of youth work in reactivating common spaces, creating new possibilities for use and shared ownership. Enhance well-being, cooperation, and sustainability Sessions dedicated to creative well-being (nature walks, drawing, body movement, journaling) will help youth workers explore the link between mental health, creativity, and community work, strengthening both personal and collective resilience. Provide replicable models of inclusive and ecological education The project will produce a practical manual with construction guides, pedagogical suggestions, and facilitation tools, designed to be reused in schools, youth centers, and associations, with a specific focus on sustainability and the engagement of rural youth. Connect personal skills and community development CHAIR aims to highlight how the development of individual abilities – digital, manual, creative – can be transformed into collective capacities, strengthening the role of young people and youth workers as agents of social transformation. Expected impact on youth work Through this experience, participants will become multipliers in their contexts, proposing inclusive activities based on nature and design, promoting the use of open-source digital tools, experimenting with practices of community regeneration, and contributing to building a culture of youth work that is more innovative, accessible, and sustainable. CHAIR therefore seeks to achieve a central goal: to support youth workers with theoretical and practical tools (the CHAIR methodology) to combine manual skills, creativity, and digital tools in order to strengthen youth participation and generate processes of inclusion and community regeneration in their local contexts, whether rural, urban, or marginalised.
