Objectives

Music as a Tool for Youth Growth is a training course aimed at youth workers and professionals engaged in the field of non-formal education. Its main goal is to provide practical tools and music-based exercises to work effectively with groups of young people, supporting their personal and social development while also promoting individual well-being. The project aims to offer inclusive tools that can engage young people with diverse abilities and disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring an accessible, participatory, and empowering educational approach for all. Music is proposed as a powerful medium to address many contemporary social and cultural challenges, fostering cultural diversity, intercultural understanding, the development of soft skills, and activating creativity and resilience in young people. Throughout the course, participants will engage in practical activities such as body percussion and circular music, which provide immediately applicable tools for educational work. These activities not only facilitate musical and bodily expression but also strengthen essential soft skills such as concentration, discipline, active listening, and cooperation. Another key component of the course will be choral activity: group singing will be used as a pedagogical tool for developing social competences. Singing together encourages collaboration, solidarity, a sense of community, and mutual respect — all fundamental values for both personal and collective growth. A significant part of the course will be dedicated to the analysis of song lyrics from different European countries, focusing on contemporary social issues such as: human rights, environmental sustainability, the core values of the European Union, and democracy. Participants will listen to, perform, and analyze these songs together, reflecting on the themes explored. They will also be guided to write an additional verse or chorus line as an exercise in creative reinterpretation and active participation. The training will conclude with a community-based social animation activity held in a local structure (e.g., a retirement home, or a center for people in vulnerable conditions), where participants will organize a public event. This final moment will offer the opportunity to apply the tools and methods learned during the course and to create a concrete bridge between training and community impact. The objectives of this training course are: 1. To enrich the youth workers' toolbox with music-based educational tools that support young people's personal, social, and cultural development. 2. To promote educational innovation within the partner organisations by providing musical methodologies that can inspire new learning pathways. 3. To support the development of soft skills among young people — such as focus, commitment, active listening, discipline, and cooperation — through non-formal musical tools. 4. To foster intercultural dialogue and communication by encouraging contact with diverse cultural expressions, valuing the discovery of similarities and differences, and exploring the richness of musical diversity. 5. To use choir singing as an educational metaphor of "unity in diversity": different voices working together to achieve a common goal, generating harmony beyond the sum of individual parts. 6. To explore European social issues through the analysis and creative reinterpretation of song lyrics, stimulating youth awareness, critical thinking, and active participation.
