Through the project Waste Watchers we aim to transform the attitude of young people and communities in rural areas of Croatia and Italy towards illegal waste. The overall objective is to empower young people to become active guardians of the environment, turning frustration into civic activism based on data and dialogue. Using technology, clean-up actions and public forums with decision-makers, we are building a sustainable model of youth participation. The specific objectives are: to train 16 ambassadors (drone operation, team leadership, public advocacy); to mobilise 180 young people in 12 clean-up actions; to establish dialogue between 32 young people and 4 decision-makers through 2 public forums; and to achieve measurable environmental impact by removing 6 tonnes of waste and mapping 12 new sites.
