Objectives

With the project FreeRide, we want to combine the passion of young people for freestyle skiing with the educational mission of youth work: creating safe spaces where young people can develop personally, reflect critically and learn from each other across borders. The idea came directly from two boys at the JUBEL youth participation forum, which makes it a clear example of how youth work supports young people to turn their own ideas into reality. From the perspective of youth work practice, our objectives are: - to empower boys (13–16 years) to reflect on masculinity, roles and responsibility, and to grow into respectful and confident young men - to use sport as a tool for youth work, helping participants to experience teamwork, risk awareness, fair play and resilience in a practical way - to strengthen media competences, enabling participants to film and edit their tricks, reflect on digital self-presentation and use social media in a conscious way - to promote intercultural learning and dialogue by bringing together youth from three countries and encouraging them to share their cultures, values and everyday realities - to apply non-formal learning methods such as reflection groups, creative workshops and Youthpass to make competences visible and meaningful for the participants In youth work terms, the project is therefore not just about skiing or video production, but about supporting young people in their personal development, giving them tools to critically understand the world around them, and encouraging them to take an active role in shaping their communities.
