The main objective of “Vilnius 2026”, the 8th National Session of EYP Lithuania, is to foster civic awareness among Lithuanian youth and to encourage their active engagement in democratic processes. Today, many young people in Lithuania feel detached from politics, have little understanding of how European institutions function, or do not feel capable of influencing decision-making. Such detachment leads to low voter turnout, indifference towards civic initiatives, and vulnerability to disinformation. The project seeks to reduce this gap by providing young people with the necessary theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and self-confidence to become active, critically thinking, and democratically engaged citizens. At the same time, the project strengthens EYP Lithuania as an organisation by empowering a new generation of volunteers and leaders who will continue to promote youth participation in public life on local, national, and European levels.
