The REGEN project aims to address the growing mental and physical health challenges faced by young people across Europe, including issues such as anxiety, depression, obesity, substance abuse, and, to a lesser degree, the negative effects of digital environments. These problems are especially severe among marginalised youth and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. From a youth work practice perspective, REGEN seeks to: x) Promote holistic well-being by raising awareness about physical and mental health issues affecting young people. x) Encourage healthier lifestyles through workshops and activities on nutrition, physical fitness, and emotional well-being. x) Foster community and inclusion, particularly integrating marginalised groups and creating safe spaces for youth to connect and support each other. x) Reduce self-harm and risky behaviours by equipping young people with coping tools and healthier alternatives. x) Educate youth on the environmental impact of unhealthy lifestyle choices, promoting sustainability alongside personal health. By focusing on practical, community-based interventions and non-formal education, the project empowers youth to take charge of their health, habits, well-being, and future.
