ur project is driven by a recognition of interconnected needs: the global imperative for heightened environmental stewardship and the role of innovative youth work in empowering young people to become active, informed, and engaged citizens. We observe a significant challenge in how young Europeans, often residing in urban environments, connect with and understand the natural world that sustains them. This disconnect is compounded by widespread eco-anxiety and a perceived lack of agency in tackling vast environmental problems like climate change and biodiversity loss, issues underscored by stark data, such as the IPBES report indicating around 1 million species are threatened with extinction. Traditional educational approaches often fall short in fostering the deep, experiential learning and practical skills needed for genuine environmental action. Our project addresses these issues by creating a non-formal learning environment where youth work practice is central to fostering environmental literacy, critical thinking, intercultural competence, and a sense of empowerment. In accordance, our project objectives are as follows: -Facilitate deep understanding of environmental concepts through engaging, participant-centered non-formal learning methods, as seen in activities like "Exploring Food Chains & Food Webs" and "Nature's Priceless Gifts," making ecological ideas accessible and memorable. -Enhance key competences crucial for personal development and active citizenship through direct experience in collaborative tasks, debates like the "Youth Roundtable," and creative projects such as "Design for Awareness." -Promote active youth participation and agency by involving young people deeply in various project elements, from co-developing questions for dissemination activities to leading segments of cultural sharing and presenting their findings from "Species in Peril," thereby building their confidence and sense of ownership. -Cultivate intercultural understanding and respect for diversity by creating a safe and inclusive space where young people from different backgrounds learn together, share perspectives during cultural nights, and collaborate on common environmental goals. -Develop critical thinking and media literacy skills related to environmental information through activities like "Debunking Environmental Misconceptions," enabling participants to navigate and assess information more effectively. -Inspire a lasting connection to nature and a commitment to sustainable practices by combining experiential learning outdoors. -Support participants in recognizing and articulating their learning outcomes through consistent reflection and the comprehensive use of the Youthpass certificate, thereby valuing the skills gained in a non-formal youth work setting. -Encourage the development of practical skills for community engagement and dissemination, equipping participants through activities like "Eco-Conversations" and the "Nature Walk & Poster Showcase" to share their knowledge and inspire others. -Build an international network of environmentally aware young people, fostering connections that can lead to mutual support in their environmental endeavors.
