Objectives

In Latvia, only around 20% of people with disabilities are employed, and young people with disabilities face particularly high barriers to entering the labor market after finishing school. Lack of employment often leads to social exclusion, feelings of low self-worth, and isolation. Following the EU Disability Strategy 2021–2030, employment is the most effective way to ensure economic independence and social inclusion for people with disabilities. Therefore, it is crucial to provide targeted support to young people with disabilities, facilitating their full participation in society and the labor market. The project aims to implement a professional development mobility for staff of the NGO “Wings of Hope” in Austria at “BVÖ Bildungsberatung & Vermittlungsagentur GmbH” and its partner organizations. During the mobility, participants will observe, participate in, and analyze effective approaches, mechanisms, and collaborative practices that support the employment and social inclusion of young people with disabilities. The knowledge and competencies gained will be integrated into the daily work of “Wings of hope”’ day and multifunctional centers. The project objectives are: - To enhance the professional competencies of staff working with young people with disabilities. - To learn and analyze innovative employment and social inclusion models used in Austria. - To practically apply the acquired knowledge and competencies in association social service centers, promoting long-term collaboration with local partners and increasing employment opportunities for young people with disabilities. his project directly corresponds to the Erasmus+ priority on inclusion and diversity by enhancing the competences of youth workers working with young people with disabilities and by providing this socially excluded group with improved professional support for fostering employability.
