Environment and climate change

Objectives

By implementing this project, we want to achieve the aim of the project - to improve the climate literacy of youth workers through non-formal learning methods in order to facilitate the transfer of this knowledge to young people within the framework of youth work. We aim to reach this goal by using non-formal education and learning methods to equip youth workers with essential information on climate change, including its preconditions, causes, consequences, and practical solutions for mitigation, and to strengthen the climate literacy of youth workers whose studies are not related to natural or environmental sciences. Accordingly, during the project we will run a training course for youth workers in which participants will acquire foundational knowledge about climate issues and climate change, enabling them to pass this knowledge to young people through their daily youth work and other organisational activities in a simple, clear, and accessible way. We also seek to promote popular science approaches within non-formal education and learning to explain local impacts of climate change, thereby drawing young people’s attention to the issue. In addition, the project will reinforce youth workers’ climate literacy and their ability to separate facts from myths, reducing the spread of misconceptions about climate issues. The project aims to improve the climate literacy of youth workers through non-formal learning methods in order to facilitate the transfer of this knowledge to young people within the framework of youth work. Objectives: 1. Provide participants with essential knowledge about climate and climate change issues; 2. Improve participants’ knowledge and provide them with appropriate digital tools to distinguish facts from myths about climate change; 3. Exchange good practices of participating organisations in integrating climate change issues into youth work; 4. Provide youth workers with tools for integrating climate change topics into youth work; 5. Develop a handbook on key climate issues suitable for youth work; 6. Promote the visibility of Erasmus+, Youthpass and the YOCOMO competence model. Specifically from a youth work perspective, we plan to contribute to youth work and its development by promoting youth workers' awareness of climate change and the need to mitigate it, including this topic more widely in youth work, thus promoting sustainable youth work. Thus the aim in the case of promoting youth work is also to pay more attention to the topic so that more young people gain knowledge and are motivated to implement sustainable actions to mitigate climate change. We plan to contribute to the development of youth work with dissemination activities and the project results - a handbook with the most important facts about climate change, which will highlight the relevance of this issue, explain climate processes in a simple way and provide recommendations for personal actions and choices to mitigate the impact on the climate. Thus, we will promote the development of sustainable youth work, which, depending on the scale of mutual interaction, will also have a certain positive impact in other areas and sectors.
