“MINDCRAFT: Youth and AI in Action” is an innovative youth exchange project led by the Siggiewi Local Council in collaboration with youth organizations from Italy, Portugal, Spain, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Malta. Taking place in Siggiewi from 5 to 10 May 2026, the project aims to empower young people to explore, question, and shape the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their lives and communities. By moving beyond passive discussions, MINDCRAFT puts youth at the centre of action, offering them the opportunity to experiment with real AI tools, challenge digital norms, and co-create solutions that promote digital responsibility, inclusion, and intercultural understanding. The main objective of MINDCRAFT is to promote critical digital literacy among youth through non-formal education. Participants will actively engage with AI technologies such as chatbots, image generators, and data-based decision-making tools to explore how algorithms influence communication, identity, relationships, and participation in society. Through workshops, simulations, and collaborative activities, young people will develop key competences including critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, and ethical digital awareness. These learning experiences are designed to be hands-on and youth-led, making space for participants to take initiative, lead sessions, and shape content based on their lived realities and interests. Inclusion is a core value of the project. Each delegation will include young people with fewer opportunities, those facing social, economic, or geographic barriers, who will be supported with tailored mentoring and accessible resources. Their involvement will not be tokenistic; instead, they will play an active role in co-designing sessions, sharing their perspectives, and contributing meaningfully to project outcomes. Diversity will also be reflected in the tools and discussions, such as exploring bias in AI, challenges to accessibility, and the risks of exclusion in digital spaces. MINDCRAFT will also strengthen the role of youth organisations as facilitators of innovation in digital education. Through peer-to-peer learning and the exchange of best practices, youth workers and group leaders will gain new insights into how technology can be used not just for communication or productivity, but also as a medium for empowerment, creativity, and solidarity. The project will therefore serve as a platform to build the capacity of participating organisations in digital youth work, contributing to their long-term impact and sustainability. At the heart of the project is the creation of a collaborative outcome: “Mindcraft: Navigating the Future – Youth Perspectives on AI and Responsibility”, an eBooklet co-authored by the participants themselves. This will include reflections, tools, ethical guidelines, and creative expressions on how young people perceive and want to shape AI’s role in society. It will be presented at follow-up events in schools and community centres, encouraging further dialogue at local and national levels. By aligning with the Erasmus+ programme’s priorities, particularly those related to digital transformation, inclusion and diversity, and youth participation, MINDCRAFT aspires to go beyond a single exchange. It aims to inspire a broader youth-led movement that empowers young people to become critical, conscious, and connected digital citizens, actively contributing to a more inclusive, ethical, and participatory digital future across Europe.
