Roleplay and immersive activities are core methods in non-formal education, enabling learner-centred and participatory approaches that foster self-expression, empathy, and critical thinking. These tools allow young people to explore complex topics safely and meaningfully, but their impact depends on skilled facilitation. Many youth workers and educators struggle to structure such creative environments, often underestimating the preparation, safety measures, and debriefing processes required. This project “Step Into the Role” addresses the need for professional development in facilitation of roleplay and improvisational methods. The training will strengthen youth workers’ and educators’ competencies in four areas: - analyzing self-perception and fostering open communication through improvisational theatre; - enhancing presentation and engagement skills to sustain meaningful learning environments; - structuring immersive activities with clear on-boarding, facilitation, and debriefing processes; - ability to ensure safety, consent, and inclusivity for diverse groups. The main objective is to empower educators with practical tools and reflective practices to create impactful, engaging, and safe learning journeys. By investing in their facilitation capacities, the project contributes to higher quality youth work, supports the development of inclusive practices, and equips professionals to use roleplay and immersive education as a transformative method for young people’s growth. Sub-objectives of the project are: • To reflect upon personal self-image as a youth worker & identify areas of improvement; • To foster common understanding of group safety in creative and roleplay activities; • To develop further facilitation, improvisation and roleplay skills of participants; • To equip participants with a set of practical exercises and tools to use when working with groups of young people; • To promote community-building through improvisational theater and roleplay activities. With this training course we would like to further develop the portfolio of activities that MUYA offers to young people, increase engagement of key members through engaging methods and approaches. Promote the activities of the organization with members who are capable of creating a friendly, safe atmosphere, know how to invite young people to accept learning challenges and ready to improvise when needed.
