Objectives

This project brings together young people from countries shaped by 20th-century totalitarian regimes, such as fascism and communism. Although these regimes have collapsed, their legacy — censorship, fear, and mistrust in democratic institutions — still influences political discourse today. At the same time, authoritarian tendencies are rising again across Europe, often masked as nationalism or "protection." The project aims to equip young people with the knowledge and tools to recognize and resist these threats. Through non-formal education and international cooperation, participants will explore how totalitarianism operates, its impact on human rights, and how to counter authoritarian thinking today. They will develop critical media literacy, engage in creative activism, and become active promoters of democracy and civic engagement in their communities.
