Objectives

Collective Imagine is all about queer community coming together to dream and build new possibilities and realities. Collective reflects on the shared action and collaboration, where as young queer people we support, uplift, and create change side by side. Imagine is about using our creativity and visions to shape a world where queer lives are safer, visible and celebrated. Together its about dreaming out loud as a community and turning those dreams into action. Its a follow-up project from a previous successful activistic camp, where our members participated. Through the project we want to address the current socio-political landscape, where people around the world are under attack for who they are. This is in relation to gender identity and expression, sexuality, race, ethnicity, religion and belief systems, disabilities and neurodivergence, migration and refugee status, age and generational gaps, body autonomy, socio-economic status and more. Marginalized communities, and especially queers are increasingly scapegoated by far-right politicians pushing a conservative agenda, leading to growing violence. Discrimination and violence against LGBTQIA+ people can come in many forms, from name-calling, bullying, harassment, hate-crimes, and gender-based violence, to being denied a job or appropriate healthcare. Attacks on queer communities are not isolated. In our view and experience they test the resilience of democratic protections and what starts as an attack on queer rights, soon threatens the rights and freedoms of all individuals, which is something that is unfortunately already happening, but not many people seem to care. As young people, we are extremely concerned not only about our future, but for our present lives too, as we witness and live the consequences of this violence and attacks in our daily lives. We want to adress: -Safer spaces: many queer individuals experience isolation, and lack of representation. The camp offers a supportive environment to gather, and be ourselves. -Participation in civic society: opportunities for meaningful participation in democratic processes are limited or ignoring vulnerable youth. For many queers, the motivation is lost and challenged. The camp offers activities to change that. -Wellbeing: the constant exposure to the news, and the systemic oppression impact our emotional and psychological health. The activities in the camp emphasize self and community care. -Solidarity across marginalized communities: oppression is interconnected. The project encourages collaboration, allyship, and collective action beyond the camp. Our primary view is that all (young) people, regardless of who they are, deserve to live safely, authentically, fully and in dignity. The main objectives are and remain: -create a safer and celebratory space for 42 Queer & allies youth with intersectional backgrounds to share their experiences, identities and stories. -enhance peer learning and explore diverse forms of activism - storytelling, digital, community building, art, street actions, inspiring participants to take action and affect social change. -improve the lifelong competencies of participants, their wellbeing and personal growth. -organize local actions during the camp and after during the local action phase (at least 2 per country). -create creative outputs (art, media, printed material) that highlight the resilience, creativity, & queer joy of the community.
